After the plane crash in which his best friend Goose dies, Maverick would like to resign, but Commander Viper tells him the true story of the death of his father Duke Mitchell, during an unauthorized secret mission in enemy territory, in which thanks to the heroism of Duke Mitchell saved numerous pilots. Thanks to this story, Maverick finally discovers the truth and decides to continue his career as a pilot.
