Snake Plissken, the perfect antihero.
In an era – the 1980s – when unequivocally heroic characters like Superman and Luke Skywalker were extremely popular, 1997’S ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK stood out for presenting a protagonist who seemed completely devoid of positive qualities, but who nevertheless gave spectators someone to side with. All this while avoiding making him the usual predictable hero without blemish and without fear. Thanks also to these choices, 1997: Escape from New York has turned into a timeless cult and Snake Plissken a protagonist who has become a legend.
