On 7 June 2000, during the Ultra-Lightweight 125 TT competition, Joey Dunlop, aged 48, achieved his twenty-sixth victory at the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy. Unexpectedly, that proved to be his last TT victory. A few days later, a tragic accident in Estonia led to the passing of the “King of the Road”, leaving a void in the world of road racing. Became an icon for many road racers, including John McGuinness, stuck at 23 victories, and his nephew Michael Dunlop. 23 years after that triumph, “The Bull” came close to breaking Uncle Joey’s record in the 2024 edition of the Isle of Man TT which has just concluded.
