AYRTON SENNA, THE LEGEND ON FOUR WHEELS
Almost impossible numbers: 3 World Championships won, 41 GPs won, 65 Pole Positions obtained out of a total of 162 GPs.
The premature death made him immortal for all the fans.
In his career, 1988 represents the leap in quality with the transfer to McLaren-Honda, after the experience in Toleman and Lotus.
Just in that year, McLaren won a total of 15 of the 16 races, of these, eight were won by the Brazilian, overtaking his teammate Alain Prost. The last race in Suzuka was memorable: the Brazilian made a mistake at the start, losing several positions and then making an extraordinary comeback, overtaking his teammate and winning the race and world title. As in his predictions of him (Senna’s programming skills were incredible) he won the World Championship in the year in which he believed he could do it, 1988. Following the 1990 and 1991 World Championships again with McLaren.
